The Blessing Of EMDR Therapy For PTSD

The eye movement desensitization and reprocessing is probably a great blessing in the medical world. EMDR which is its shorter term, helped a lot of people. It has been one of the wonderful discovery that psychologist came up.

During an EMDR the expert will move his fingers back and forth in front of you. He will ask you to follow the motion of his hands. There are many practitioners use EMDR therapy for PTSD.

Patients were treated using this one, the therapy incorporates elements from other psychotherapies such as, experimental, interpersonal, cognitive behavioral and body centered therapies. Distressing events in life are really difficult to cope, but there are therapists that may help you if you are just willing to treated. During the 1st phase of the treatment a thorough assessment of your traumatic experience will be done. Getting rid of the symptoms and your cognitive ideas will be discussed, as well as the goals for the treatment will be set.

The therapist will ensure that his or her client will be in a stable phase prior talking about the traumatic experience, that will be in the second phase. The client may be given some relaxation techniques if he or she will not yet be stable talking about it.

On the third and phases beyond, things like emotions, beliefs, body sensations and images that are involved in an event will be discussed and identified. After identifying those things, you will follow the hand motion of the practitioner. The whole procedure will continue until the undesirable feeling will be be totally gone. You will be advised to think more positive as you have agreed.

During the seventh phase, you will be instructed to write anything. Anything that you want in connection to the traumatic event you had. An evaluation will then follow as you reach the last treatment session.

EMDR is one of the things that we should be grateful because it was discovered. This therapy is harmless, and it has no effects to the clients. It also been a great help to other several psychological disorders, for instance, eating disorders, panic attack, addictions or even anxiety. Seeking help to treat your problem, should not take a long time. If you have been diagnosed with this disorder, you should look for someone to assist you, so you can be treated.
