The secret of change is to focus everything on creating what you can in the present, and letting yourself slip out of the past and the future.
How do we truly change?
I am not talking about the sort of change that lasts for only a few months and then we head back to similar things we really always used to do. No, I am talking about that everlasting change that allows us to advance with our lives and leave our old ways behind. This is true change, change that will last forever. The secret is to commit everything you have in your life to building what you can in the present time.
The past will hold you down and the future will show you the greatest mirage of a spot where it all turns out. Both these places are stupendously threatening because they keep us from being in action in the moment. Even though we can go there in our heads, we have to avoid living in these places at all costs.
Change will not be easy. Think about just how many of us try and make big changes the on the first of January. Statistically almost half of people who make New Years Resolutions fail by the middle of February. That disconnect is huge. So there must be something incredibly shattered with that method.
So what are we able to do?
Focus all your energy one thing, every single day, to make yourself a tiny bit better than the day before and do that for as long as you really can. Do not get obsessed over the quantum leap where everything changes all at the same time - it is a great lie. Target the daily jobs you can perform and over a period of time you may change more than you could really ever imagine.
Start the trip of change at this moment, one step at a time.
Don't wait.
