When aspiring people ask me, "how do I make a success of my life?" I mostly give them the same answer, "do it your way?" This is one of the foundation NLP techniques.
Far too many ambitious people try to become successful by trying hard to be something that they will never be. They see others succeeding in sales or acting or gambling and they suggest to themselves, "that is the way to become successful. I will do what that person does." Do you know what? It never works for them.
The fact is that success is a highly individual thing. It depends on us finding out what we are good at and then leveraging those talents and capabilities to make them valuable to people who will want to purchase them from us.
You could be very good at making sponges or writing or building or lecturing. After you know precisely what you are good at take your skills to a more elevated level. Then find a market for your skills or products or services.
How does one find what you are good at? Study what you like. We mostly get good at the things that we like doing. I do not mean watching TV or singing in the bath. I mean some talent or capability that has commercial value or can be made to have commercial value.
You do not have to be better than other people at what you do. Rather you've got to discover a way to make what you do valuable. Then all that you need to do is find a market for the service or product that you provide.
It's not even important to be unique or original. There are many different brands of computers and motor car, all successful. What makes them valued by consumers is their image and the special characteristics that they offer to the market.
