Facts On How Your Subconscious Mind Rules Your Behavior

By Kenneth Sanders

By knowing how your subconscious mind rules your behavior, It is actually possible to change attitudes and behavioral patterns into more desirable ones. Of course, this would take an in depth knowledge about ones subconscious or unconscious part of the brain. As long as one knows about how to fix it, then one can even fix him or herself from possible deep rooted self issues that may stem into negative behaviors.

One of the most important things to take note of would be how this part of the brain functions. Now, one may try to think of the brain as like a big computer that has certain program files in the database needed to run certain applications. In a way, the unconscious brain is the big database that contains all the root files for programs and the behaviors are the applications. So in order to change the behavioral patterns of a person, one has to trace these actions all the way to the unconscious brain first.

It would be best to explain how this works through an example. For instance, if a young teenage girl suffered from bullying back when she was much younger, it is no surprise that she may portray some insecurities or lack of self confidence due to the traumatic incident. One can say that the traumatic memory may actually be the cause of the certain behaviors that she is exhibiting.

To go deeper, it can be implied that behaviors are caused by experiences. Now, these experiences are then translated into beliefs that the unconscious brain takes in and stores into something like a file system. Once a certain belief is embedded into the part of the brain, then it will translate into behaviors.

Taking a look again at the example of the girl who was bullied, the bullying incident can make her have certain negative beliefs in herself that translate to actions. She most likely embedded a certain belief that she was strange or that people really hated her. With that, she may exhibit actions such as isolation or irritability.

With that said, it is also actually possible to replace those negative beliefs with more positive beliefs. If it is possible for negative beliefs to stick, then it makes logical sense that one can do the same with positive ones. The only problem here would be that positive beliefs may need some effort and constant reinforcement to be translated into actions.

So if one would want to change behaviors, then he or she has to first change those beliefs. In order to do so, one has to first create more memories that have more impact than the last traumatic ones. These good memories will then become more powerful beliefs which will translate to action.

Always remember though, that the unconscious brain has this rule that it stores in beliefs that are constantly being reinforced. So if one drums positive beliefs into his or her head everyday, the unconscious brain will see it as a habit and thus embed it inside the database. It will then translate into habit forming behaviors.
