Do You Wonder Can This Be The Second Coming

By Leticia Jensen

Many people ask themselves the question: Can this be the Second Coming? Fortunately, there's a way to get the answer before any damage is done or opportunity missed. This event is announced in the Bible, with enough details to eliminate any impostor or catastrophe. Along with other good news, scripture holds answers to today's questions.

Luke, in his gospel, quotes Jesus as saying that He will be like lightning, visible from one end of the sky to the other. He also says that His followers should not go running after people who are claiming to have found the returned Lord. This will be an arrival that is hard to miss, highly visible and very powerful. Don't worry that you will be in one place while Jesus is in another.

Other clues can be taken from accounts from people who went to Heaven and returned to tall the story. Perhaps you think these accounts and even the Bible are not true, but then why are you looking for Jesus? Eyewitness accounts are our best source of information, as any court of law will tell you.

People who have met Jesus in Heaven had no problem knowing who He was. Small children and grown men and women knew Him instantly. He still looks like He did on earth after His resurrection, with love in His face and nail holes in His hands. He tells us in the Bible that His sheep will know His voice, and so believers do. They should not mistake another man for their Lord and savior.

If you have your health, food to eat, and live without fear, the tribulation probably has not begun. That means you have at least seven years before you need to worry about missing out on the Lord's return. There are what some consider early warning signs: wars, earthquakes, volcano eruptions, droughts and famines, floods and fire. Strange weather is another sign. However, the seven 'last plagues' definitely are not going on.

If someone seems to be responsible for a miracle, this is not proof of divinity. The Bible tells us that many will come to claiming to be the Christ and performing signs and wonders. Those who take care not to be deceived must understand prophecy about the return of the Lord. The miracles of Jesus were example of His love as well as proof of His identity. He pointed to the blind seeing and the lame walking when disciples of John the Baptist came asking if He was the awaited one, but he did his miracles on the basis of need, not as an attraction.

Jesus was neither a world or local leader. He spoke of the heavenly kingdom and of spiritual riches, but He had no palace or working capital. He had twelve faithful followers, not a royal court. If a man comes with worldly power, a thirst for renown and riches, and a disregard for the poor, he will only deceive those interested in worldly things.

It's OK to ask the question, as long as you turn to the Bible for the answer. Jesus will return riding on the clouds, on a white horse with a host behind Him, and you'll hear trumpets in the sky. If this is not the case, you haven't found the returned Son of God.
