Daily Affirmations - How To Use Them To Change Your Life

I am not talking here about the weak old affirmations of "I am getting better and better each and every day." I am talking about those power affirmations that are targeted, specific and zone in on exactly what it is you want to achieve or change.Affirmations are one way to convince your subconscious mind that what you want or desire is already in your possession. Once you can do this the floodgates open and what you desire or the change that you are trying to bring into effect comes into your life.

Affirmations are powerful so you must remember to use your words carefully. Choose words that are in complete alignment with you and what you want, choose only positive phrases and affirm them in the here and now by using words such as "I am" and "I have".

To reinforce positive words, we use as affirmations we can use them against a backdrop of music or sounds that have a positive effect on us. For some it will be Beethoven's powerful music. Others will prefer the dulcet tones of Enya. Still more will want to relax to the sound of waves lapping on the shore.

One of the most powerful experiences in my life has been to work with Tibetan singing bowls. I have seen these in action in Nepal and been deeply moved by the response to them and the experience of coming into contact with their deep vibrations and tones. For me, this is one of the most magical sounds there can be, reaching out from across the millennia with healing energy - essentially because of their beautiful sounds.

Everywhere you look today, you will find some mention of positive daily affirmations. Most people understand the basics of them. Affirmations are short, positive statements that you say to yourself on a daily basis. They are designed with a sort of formula in mind, so are easy to recognize. Many people even know that they work to give the user a more positive outlook on life. But not many people understand exactly how positive daily affirmations really work.

So if there is only one thing you do to make yourself feel better, make time to listen to music. Personally I have recorded the sounds of the sea lapping the beach at Rocky Bay in Co. Cork, Ireland and this gives me great comfort when I am holed up in my city address and in need of the freedom of the countryside. If you can organize yourself enough then repeat some positive statements aloud or silently as you listen to the music or sounds. Most of all, find the opportunity to surround yourself with sounds as daily affirmations.Does any of the above sound familiar to you? Don't be surprised if you've thought one or all of those statements at one time or another. In today's society we are programmed to focus on the things we are unhappy with and the things that we wish would change. Unfortunately, this mindset leads to negative thinking, and these kinds of thoughts can be a self-fulfilling prophecy. Many people are starting to realize that to change their lives they first need to change their thoughts; this is where positive daily affirmations come in.

Everything we think, everything we say, is an affirmation. Whether conscious or not, we are continually analyzing our existence. The way we think about ourselves and our lives shapes the way that we respond and react to the environment around us. If we tell ourselves we hate our job we'll spend so much time focusing on that, we will fail to notice things such as we have friends we work with, the great employee care our company offers and career advancement opportunities. Conversely, if we were to tell ourselves we loved our job we would smile more at work, be more productive and excited about our work and network and make more connections that could lead to a coveted promotion.

An important fact to note is that positive daily affirmations, in and of them selves, do not make you a lot of money, or make you physically look better by offering you plastic surgery. Instead, affirmations change the way you view the things around you in order to make you see that you are as your mind says you are. If you have less than $100 in your bank account, but are scraping by, paying your bills, and generally surviving, you can program your mind to see this as being wealthy. Obviously, by most people's standards, you aren't rich at all. Because you have been saying in your positive daily affirmations that you are rich and comfortable, your mind sees it that way though. You see that overall, you are happy with the situation you may be in. This is why some people who have less money will often seem more positive about their life than someone with a lot of money already.

A good set of positive daily affirmations will also help bring joy and relaxation in your life without you even having to open a book or attend a seminar. You will have set up an arsenal that will fight off the less than good things that happen around you and put a more positive thing on it. This means that you only see what is good in life and the area around you, thus giving you more control over things that you thought were unregulated. As you subconsciously have a more positive attitude about things, you will begin to notice that things do actually begin to change. This is due to the fact that you are so happy and positive with your positive daily affirmations that your confidence level goes up, which in turn causes you to begin to see things more positively with your active eye. As your outlook becomes more positive, your interactions with the world around you will change, becoming more positive also. The more positive you are, the more life in general will work on making things better for you. This is called the "law of attraction." Keep watching closely and you will see what the law of attraction is about, but that is for a different article.

Don't drag yourself down by focusing on those negative thoughts! Instead, you need to have a list of daily affirmations that are written to help increase prosperity and abundance. Write a list, and keep it with you at all times. And whenever those negative thoughts begin to creep into your mind, immediately recognize the negative thought, and then replace it with a positive affirmation.Positive affirmations that are applied on a daily basis will help you change your reality and you will begin to attract positive people and positive experiences. Many people discount the effects of positive affirmations because they think that they don't work... but if you give it a little bit of time and a lot of focus you really can attract any amount of prosperity and wealth that you desire.Take a few minutes each morning and evening to focus on your positive daily affirmations, and you will begin to see the changes occurring in your life!
