The Young Science Of Developmental Psychology

At infancy to the age of one and half, a kid usually enjoys what we label solitary play. Solitary play is characterised by self absorption with the own toys and failure to mingle and relate to other children. At this period, there is neither interaction nor concern to others perspective. Alternatively, at the age of 6 or 7 the child begins to make friends and interact in group play. By the time the kid reaches teenage, the desire to develop positive human relationship begins to flourish.

The dynamics of how people relate from infancy to teenage in a steady evolution of perception of simple to complex interactions paved the way to the commencement of the field of developmental psychology.

According to Margaret and Butterworth, 2012, developmental psychology is the methodical study of progressive psychological changes that transpire in human beings as they age. It's a relatively young and rapidly rising sub-field in psychology that seeks to probe deeper into the gradual evolution of child's cognitive and social capabilities among others. Changes in behaviour are observed by revealing the processes that underlie these changes.

Particularly in the area of cognitive development, there are some noteworthy contributions from the world's greatest minds like Jean Piaget, wherein he said in his theory that the developmental changes in a human being is significantly related in his organisation or structure of the thinking process. Alternatively, Lev Vygotsky emphasised in his theory that the progress in child's learning and thinking process is significantly determined by how the person interacts with the social world in general.

Today, in the modern world where we live, there are several studies related to developmental psychology that prove the significance of tuition agencies and the excellent tuition services in the cognitive development of children. Needless to say this branch of psychology has already confirmed its limitless implications when it comes to improving child's growth in various aspects of his existence.
