Otherwise, you could simply wait until your old subscription expires before installing the new version. I do not find the Norton Toolbar useful; I have enough tool bars. I have used trend micro for years with no issues but thought I would try something else. This is an excellent product - have used it for several years with no problems. I'll have to pay for the servicing and spend a couple weeks reloading applications and data. I would think twice before loading NIS onto a Windows XP system.
Liked it so well sent a copy to my daughter and installed 3rd license on my mother's system. I also got it on sale for $29.99 for a 3 PC copy. You can continue working on other programs with minimal intrusion while a scan is in progress because Norton AV doesn't bog down your computer like a lot of the other AV programs (of which BitDefender must surely be the worst offender). A Full System Scan performs a scan on critical areas as well as files on local drives, mapped network drives, and removable drives. It's been so long since I got it so I don't remember anything about the vendor, but the product is great. I have been using Norton Internet Security since 2006. For the average user, NIS does its job well, without slowing down your PC much (yes, older versions prior to 2009 sometimes were bad on computer resources). I've seen very few false positive alerts with NIS, other than it flagging some very odd encryption programs (and it's easy to tell NIS to ignore specific files/programs). Would be nice if they rewarded their customer base w/ a discount Product was exactly as described, although mislabeled which the seller explained. It arrived about 2 days after ordering, way sooner than expected.
My environment is still XP-Pro SP3, IE 8, and a PC at least five years old. More than just a security utility, this one provides useful information. I am not especially computer literate and it works for me. If you want security that does not slow down your computer or make it freeze like some of the others out there that I have used in the past then you need not look any further than Norton Internet Security by Symantec.
Both computers now have a shorter boot-up time and I really like the features of this security software over Trend Micro and Zone Alarm that I had before. I had a $15 off coupon from Norton to purchase this on their site, but when I checked price it was going to be more for 1 user with my coupon than the Amazon price of $24.99 for 3 PCs.
I'd say buy it from 3rd parties like Amazon. You are better off buying a new box every year as I have never found it to be cheaper to let it auto-renew. Norton is very easy to use, does what it says it will do with nice graphics and overall is well worth the money. Everything having to do with the product and transaction went just as I had hoped for and expected. The only thing is that once you have installed the program your subscription for all three PC's start on that same day. However, I am a very pleased customer!
It even alerts you if someone is trying to use your home network by blocking them out, preventing them access. Trojan virus attacks, unauthorized network use, scams, and malicious wed attacks are being prevented and fixed without slowing your computer performance with this program.

It would be ideal if the program pulled from some information source to help me make an informed decision about whether to delete, quarantine, or leave the threat alone. WOODEN FILING CABINETS.
