SAN FRANCISCO - Facebook social network officials are scheduled to meet with members of the Institute of Child Protection in the United States (U.S.) to discuss the problem of 'panic button'.
Quoted by Techradar, Monday (12/4/2010), child protection agencies from online exploitation (Child Exploitation and Online Proteciton / CEOP), which has offices in Washington the U.S., inviting Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg and friends to discuss ways to create a social networking service that is safer to use by children.
"This is an important thing to be discussed soon, namely the possibility of penyematan panic button or the 'panic button'
on Facebook murder incident that recently happened does not happen again," said CEOP director Jim Gamble.
Previously, Facebook was determined to not want to install a panic button on the main page of Facebook users. But apparently, the decision has gradually begun to change, and Facebook began to realize the importance of a 'panic button'.
In the CEOP data itself, these institutions have received approximately 252 complaints related to Facebook over three months in 2010. Of the total complaints, approximately 40 percent of the complaints related to the children.
Murder case was one of them. Recently in the U.S. occurred involving the murder of 17-year-old girl named Ashleigh Hall. The girl was killed by Peter Chapman, the man who met through Facebook. (Srn)
