The strength of spirituality is like fuel to a vehicle. It runs out or low and has to be reinforced regularly. The process of reinforcing leads to spiritual awakening and gives you new strength to face the challenges ahead. You have greater passion to explore and live your spirituality. What can you do to make this process successful and effective?
Prepare to drop excess baggage from your life. The baggage comes in the form of habits, items and people. A lot of elements in life cause cluttering to the point that you cannot operate efficiently. An example is habits that you picked during your formation years. Other burdens could be physical and even emotional. By dropping some of these elements, you are light weight and have room for a new perspective.
Evaluate your belief system to see whether it is practical and effective. There are aspects of faith that could be causing your spirit to die or get cold. Lay bare what you believe and see whether it makes sense. If a belief is not making sense or adding value to your life, drop it. Pick up new ideas that enhance your spirituality.
Explore new spiritual ideas. This is not an invitation to abandon that which you believe today. The exploration comes in the form of reading new books and talking to people who will breathe new life into your spirituality. Expand your circle and you will discover the level of hunger that exists. You realize that you have been living a very enclosed life.
Take to outdoors for inspiration. Nature has a load of gifts in store for people who pay homage. Visit your favorite park, take a long drive, retreat to the mountains or ride down the river, among other options. By connecting with nature, you awaken a new aspect of your life.
Take care of your body. You cannot have a strong spirit if the body is weak. Eat well, exercise and receive treatment for any illnesses you may have. If the body is strong, the mind and spirit will also be strong. A weak body does not have the push to search for awakening. Your perceptions will be limited to your inner strength. If the body is flexible, the mind and heart will equally be flexible.
Be ready to let go. There are ideas that are no longer tenable in your life. The company of some people will also no longer add value to your life. Friends and activities will also have to change if a transformation is to be realized. Continued holding on to them means that your life is held hostage. Pray for strength and grace to accept these changes. You cannot achieve the changes without letting go a part of your old self.
Find a mentor to guide you through the process. There are activities and actions that could be enticing yet they do not lead you in the right direction. A mentor will direct you from experience and revelation. This should be a leader who has served for years and therefore understands the right direction to take. You must prepare to be a new being and drop your old ways. It will take a while to get comfortable with your new self.
