3 ways to Unwind, De-stress and Create Balance Your Life

When your life seems beyond control and you have got endless demands tugging at you from all directions, it's not difficult to feel overpowered, fatigued - and just plain stressed. Believe it to be true or not, balancing your life doesn't require huge changes. You don't have to give up your job, abandon your family and escape to a remote retreat so as to feel tranquil and ecstatic. In fact , true balance is something that starts within you above all - irrespective of what else is happening in your outer life circumstances.

Below you will find three straightforward methods to begin building a larger sense of inner peace and harmony:

1) Quiet time.

One of the first things we sacrifice when we're busy is our personal time. Instead we dedicate all of our energy and attention to caring for others, multitasking, meeting responsibilities and "being productive." Over a period this uses our energy and we start to feel more encumbered by our responsibilities.

To live a rather more balanced life, quiet time to you is vital. You may believe that you don't have any time available for yourself, but something amazing takes place when you habitually make time; you find yourself feeling more happy and more energetic, your focus improves - and you still get lots done. Just a few minutes spent sitting quietly in meditation or reading a book can do wonders in transforming stress into peace and contentment.

2) Self-care.

Beyond making time for things you like, there are other ways to nurture and love yourself on a regular basis. Getting a full 8 hours of sleep (or as much as you need) is a great start, as well as eating healthy food, exercising daily and talking kindly to oneself.

Ever noticed that when you are truly tired or stressed, even the smallest problem can seem just like a nightmare? On the other hand, when you are feeling well-rested and focused, you are miles better ready to handle upsets. Caring for yourself is one sure way to solidly replace your energy, inner peace and joy - meaning you'll have the strength to handle whatever comes your way.

3) Flexibleness.

Are you aware that one of the biggest causes of stress is stiff expectations ? We all do it now and then; get a mental image of how our lives "should be" - and get really annoyed when our outer circumstances don't cooperate. One of the most important gifts you can give yourself is a flexible state of mind. To explain, learn the way to detach from excessive expectations and follow the flow.

When you have a flexible mind-set, you are able to deal with crises and Problems much more easily because you are not working against a biased concept of how things "should be". You are able to hook straight into your creative problem-solving skills and move through challenges without all the drama and disappointment. Be like the tree that bends with the breeze - and you are much less likely to start to break.

These inner changes can make a dramatic difference in your state of well-being, but you may also want to examine your outer life circumstances and see whether there are other small changes you can make to help support your inner work.

For example, you may decide to let go of certain obligations that are no longer suggestive or delightful to you. Just because you agreed to host weekly meetings for a support group 3 years ago doesn't mean you have to keep doing it forever - especially if it's become a drain on your resources. Be content to let go of activities that no longer counterpoint the approach to life you want, and you'll create space for bigger fulfillment, joy and peace.
