Dealing With Hair Loss After Pregnancy

By Ashley Houston

After the baby is born, the extra hair is gradually released and hair loss after pregnancy is much more pronounced than it was before or during pregnancy.

Since this is normal, there's no need to worry about it. Chances are, it could take up to a year before the hair return to its normal rate of falling out a few strands at a time.

You don't have to worry if you notice hair loss after pregnancy. This is the result of your hormones gradually adjusting to their normal pre-pregnancy state and it is considered normal.

Many parts of the body including milk production, nails, hair, ovulation, moods, and menstruation can be affected by hormones.

During pregnancy, nails become notably harder. Just as there is a normal amount of hair loss after pregnancy, the fingernails will also return gradually to the way a woman had normally experienced them.

A whole body experience is pregnancy. After the baby is born, the mother's body has a lot of things to do in order to return to its usual non-pregnant state.

A longer period of readjustment is what a mother who is nursing will have unlike a mother who is not nursing. You should still remember that nine and a half months up is at least the same amount of time down.

Besides hair loss after pregnancy, a woman might notice changes in her nails. It's also possible that you may have noticed other changes in your hair while you were pregnant. The whole body, including the hair, is affected by hormones.

During pregnancy, hair that was normally straight might suddenly begin to grow in curlier than ever. Or, as the pregnancy progresses, hair that was curly may get straighter and straighter.

After the baby is born, it can take a year for hair to readjust to its normal thickness and wavy or straight state.

It may come as a surprise to see such an increase in hair loss after pregnancy. Clumps of hair can be found on the drain or even in your brush. But there won't be any thin patches on your head so there's no need to worry. Simply releasing hair that was extra during your pregnancy is what you are doing. It's possible that before it returns to normal, it may take a year.

The way that it affects a woman's hair is one of the most interesting things about pregnancy. During pregnancy, the hair becomes fuller. This is because hair is not released by the follicles at the same rate as when the body is not pregnant.

This means that it is not very common to have hair loss during pregnancy and hair will usually fall out less than when a woman is pregnant.
