The festive season has begun and it's time to create your Diwali gift ideas list while getting ready for the holiday of lights, Diwali 2011. Diwali holidays are celebrated with great pleasure across the breadth of the world. You just cannot help but enjoy the lights, decorations and firecrackers that abound during this season of Diwali wishes.
The shops, malls and even street stores have all brought out their products and their "Sales" signs are on display.
The initial steps for getting ready for this holiday start with the cleaning of your house then purchasing the things you'll need for this Diwali.
Here's a tiny list to help:
Diya, candles, lanterns, lamps and decorative bulbs:
You will need all these items for the lighting.
Diyas (earthenware oil lamps) are utilized in the evening and you may need four (4) small ones and one gigantic one for festivities. Aside from that, you'll also need 1 diya for each room of your house.
You can put up as much as lighting you would like using lanterns, lamps and strings of electrical lights. Keep the size of your home in mind when on the lookout for decorations.
Remember Diwali is all about fresh starts thus don't use any leftover diyas from Diwali 2010. You can shop for these Diwali lanterns even a month prior to Diwali.
Sweets:
Sweets are usually exchanged with loved ones as a mark of contentment and well wishes. You can prepare them at home or order them at your nearest sweet shop.
Take note of how much you will need and order accordingly.
You may ask for sweet baskets that contain a colourful mix of different treats. Order in advance for the treats to be delivered on the days of Diwali or a day before and always ensure that it's certain to be fresh when delivered.
Clothes and ornaments:
It is traditional to wear new clothes and ornaments on Diwali. You can shop for standard wear well in advance to give the tailors time enough for fitting and changes.
Have 2 different sets of attire, one for the events and one for bursting the firecrackers (ideally cotton or a material which is more fireproof).
Firecrackers:
Every year new types of firecrackers come onto the market. Shop for the ones you are more comfortable with. Try avoiding smoky crackers as they may cause allergies and even hearing impairment if they are overly loud.
